A Poetic Journey in a Royal Palace

Hotel Vila Galé Collection Palácio sits in the Benfica area of Lisbon, set within the grounds of a restored 18th-century palace. It feels more elegant than your typical city hotel, with classic architecture, tiled details and formal gardens giving it a sense of space that’s rare in the city. You’re not in the middle of the tourist centre, but that’s part of the appeal — it’s quieter, with easy transport links into central Lisbon and close to Benfica Stadium and the Colombo shopping centre.

Inside, the style blends historic features with modern comfort. Rooms are well-sized, comfortable and air-conditioned, with a polished but not overly formal feel. There’s a good restaurant on site, a bar for relaxed evenings, and a standout spa area with an indoor pool — a real bonus after a day exploring. Service is professional and used to international travellers. It works well for those who want something with character, without sacrificing the convenience and facilities of a modern hotel.

This year it’s was time to try Portugal. What a fantastic trip we had, it was seamless from start to finish. A great hotel, lovely food and the service was second to none. The courses were amazing. All in all another fantastic golf tour. Now we need to decide on the venue for next year with the added bonus of knowing Phil will sort us out wherever we choose.

Why Stay at Hotel Vila Galé Collection Palácio?

For golfers, this hotel works well as a refined base just outside the city centre. You can reach several Lisbon area courses by car, then return to a setting that feels spacious and relaxed. Many guests enjoy the contrast, focused golf days followed by quiet evenings in the gardens or spa. Being away from the tourist core means fewer crowds and easier downtime, while Lisbon’s dining and culture are still close when you want them. It suits golfers who appreciate character and comfort over trend driven design.
