Family Golf Holidays

Family golf holidays with something for everyone. Great courses for the golfers, pools, beaches and fun for the kids.

Why Choose a Family Golf Holiday?

Taking the family on a golf holiday might sound like a hard sell, but the right resort makes it easy. The best family golf holidays give the golfers in the group proper courses to enjoy while everyone else has pools, beaches, kids’ clubs and activities to keep them happy. Nobody’s bored, nobody’s compromising, and you all come home having had a genuinely good time. It’s a proper family holiday that just happens to include some great golf.

The trick is picking somewhere that works for the whole family, not just the golfers. That means a resort or hotel with enough going on that your partner and kids are actually looking forward to the trip, not just tolerating it. Think water parks, kids’ clubs with proper activities, family friendly restaurants, and a pool area where the non golfers can set up camp for the day without getting restless. When the resort pulls its weight, the golfer gets to enjoy their round without feeling guilty about disappearing for four hours, and everyone else has a day they’re genuinely enjoying. That’s the balance you’re aiming for, and it’s easier to find than you might think.

All inclusive tends to work particularly well for families because it takes the stress out of feeding everyone. Kids eat when they’re hungry, there’s no bill anxiety every time someone orders an ice cream, and the adults can have a drink by the pool without keeping a mental tab running. It also means the overall cost is predictable, which makes budgeting much simpler when you’re paying for a family of four or five rather than just a couple of golfers.

Making It Work for Everyone

The logistics of a family golf trip need a bit more thought than a standard group booking. Tee times are the main thing. Early morning slots mean the golfer can be out and back before lunch, leaving the rest of the day free for family time. Some resorts offer creche or kids’ club sessions that line up nicely with a round of golf, so your partner isn’t on solo parenting duty all morning. It’s worth checking age restrictions on kids’ clubs too, as they vary from resort to resort and some only take children from age four or above.

Choosing the Right Destination

For family golf holidays, the destination needs to deliver on two fronts: good golf and a family friendly environment. Resorts with on-site or nearby courses are ideal because they cut down on travel time and mean the golfer isn’t away from the family for longer than necessary. Beach access is a big plus for families with younger children, and having restaurants, shops and evening entertainment within walking distance makes the whole trip easier. The weather matters too. If the kids are relying on outdoor pools and the beach, you want somewhere with reliable sunshine, so late spring through to early autumn tends to be the sweet spot for most destinations.

Frequently Asked Questions

All inclusive is the most popular choice for families and it’s easy to see why. With meals, drinks and snacks included, you’re not worrying about feeding the kids every five minutes or keeping track of what everyone’s spent. It also makes budgeting straightforward because almost everything is covered upfront. Half board works well too if you’d prefer to eat out some evenings, and self catering or aparthotel options suit families who like the flexibility of cooking for themselves. We can advise on which board basis works best for your family and the destination you’re looking at.

At most resorts, yes. Many have par three courses, practice areas or junior academies where younger golfers can play without needing to go on the main course. Some courses welcome juniors on the full layout at certain times of day, usually the afternoon, provided they can keep up with the pace of play. Age and handicap restrictions vary, so we’ll check the specific rules for each course and let you know what’s possible before you book. It’s a brilliant way to introduce kids to the game in a relaxed setting.

That’s completely normal and it’s what the resort facilities are for. The hotels we recommend for family golf holidays all have plenty to keep non golfing children occupied, from swimming pools and water parks to kids’ clubs, sports courts and beach activities. Many of the kids’ clubs run structured programmes throughout the day, so your children are entertained and supervised while the adults are on the course. We’ll always check what’s available for the age range of your kids before recommending a resort.

The accommodation cost goes up because you’ll typically need a family room or suite rather than a standard double, and flights for three, four or five people obviously add to the total. But the golf element usually stays the same, and all inclusive boards can actually represent very good value for families because the kids’ meals and drinks are covered in the price. We’ll always be transparent about costs and can adjust the package to fit your budget, whether that’s upgrading the hotel and cutting a round of golf, or keeping accommodation simple and spending more on the courses.
