Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about booking your perfect golf holiday with Golf Travel Centre.
Booking Process
Getting started is straightforward. Simply get in touch with our team by phone, email, or through our website enquiry form, and one of our specialists will take the time to understand what you’re looking for. You don’t need a fully formed plan at this stage. A rough idea of destination, travel dates, group size, and budget is more than enough for us to put together an initial proposal. From there we refine the itinerary together until it’s exactly right, at which point we manage every booking on your behalf.
Enquiring puts you under no obligation at all. We’re happy to talk through options and rework proposals as many times as you need, and nothing is booked or confirmed until you’re completely happy with the itinerary. You only commit once you’ve approved the trip and paid your deposit, so up to that point you’re free to change direction or walk away.
Unlimited Golf packages allow you to play as many rounds as you like at a resort or group of courses during your stay, for a fixed price agreed at the time of booking. For golfers who want to maximise their time on the course, particularly on longer trips or at resorts with multiple layouts, it can represent excellent value. Our specialists will advise honestly on whether an Unlimited Golf option makes financial sense for your specific itinerary, based on how many rounds you’re likely to play and the courses available under the package.
One of our specialists will get back to you as soon as possible to discuss the details, or you’re welcome to call us directly if you’d rather talk it through straight away. That first conversation is about understanding your destination, dates, group size, and budget, after which we’ll put together an initial proposal for you to review. From there we refine it together until it’s right, then handle all the bookings on your behalf.
We recommend booking as early as possible, particularly for popular destinations and peak travel periods. Tee times at the most sought-after courses in Ireland, Scotland, and Portugal can be secured up to 12 to 18 months in advance, and the best resort availability tends to go quickly during the summer season. That said, we also have access to last-minute availability through our network of partners, so it is always worth getting in touch even if your travel dates are approaching.
We regularly run promotions and have exclusive partner benefits available to Golf Travel Centre clients. Currently, every group of four golfers who books with us receives a complimentary adidas polo shirt, sent out once the full balance of the trip has been paid. Additional offers vary by destination and travel period, so speak to your specialist at the time of enquiry to find out what is available for your chosen package.
Why Book With Golf Travel Centre
From your first enquiry to the day you travel, you’ll have a dedicated specialist managing every aspect of your trip. They handle the tee times, accommodation, and logistics on your behalf, and they’re your single point of contact for any questions or changes along the way. It means you can look forward to your golf rather than chasing arrangements, with an experienced team making sure everything runs smoothly.
In most cases, no. Because of our long-standing relationships and the volume of business we place with our resort and course partners, we regularly access preferred rates that are not available to golfers booking independently. Combined with our Best Price Guarantee, booking through Golf Travel Centre typically delivers better overall value than a direct booking, with the added benefit of having an experienced team managing every aspect of the trip on your behalf.
Yes. We confirm your booking with an initial deposit, then the balance is due no later than eight weeks before you travel. Deposits start from £25 per person for UK breaks, £50 for European breaks, and £100 for international breaks, though some bookings need a little more where we have to pre-pay a supplier to secure your arrangements. Bookings made within eight weeks of travel are paid in full at the time of booking. Your exact payment schedule is always set out clearly when you book, so speak to your specialist for the detail on your particular trip.
Our Best Price Guarantee means we are committed to providing the best total package rate available for your itinerary. If you find a genuinely identical package from another recognised tour operator, covering the same courses, tee times, dates, and accommodation standard, we will match it. Beyond that, once your deposit is paid your package price is locked in, protecting you from any subsequent price increases or currency fluctuations between your booking date and your travel date.
No. We quote fully inclusive package prices from the outset, covering accommodation, golf rounds, and transfers where applicable. We are transparent about what is and is not included in every proposal we put together, so there are no surprises at check-in. If there are any optional extras or on-site costs that are worth factoring into your budget, we will flag these clearly at the time of quoting.
Yes. We believe the world’s great courses are worth protecting, so we actively seek out partners who show a genuine commitment to environmental stewardship, from courses that manage water responsibly to resorts that invest in their local communities. Where possible, we encourage clients to offset travel emissions, and we work with ground operators who share our values. For us, sustainable golf travel isn’t a buzzword, it’s a responsibility we take seriously as people who love the game and the landscapes it’s played in.
Travel With Total Confidence
Every trip booked with Golf Travel Centre is backed by our full client support team. That means if something unexpected arises while you are travelling, whether it is a flight delay, a resort issue, or a last-minute change to your itinerary, you have an experienced team on hand to deal with it immediately. We handle the logistics. You focus on the golf. That peace of mind is something we take very seriously, and it is one of the reasons our clients keep coming back to us year after year.

Group Travel and Non-golfers
Absolutely. Many of our clients travel with partners, friends, or family members who don’t play golf, and we factor that into the itinerary from the outset. We select resorts and destinations that offer a strong range of non-golf activities, whether that’s spa facilities, excursions, beaches, or cultural experiences, so that everyone in the group has a genuinely enjoyable trip regardless of whether they set foot on a course.
Yes, and this is very common. We plan itineraries with the full range of abilities in mind, selecting courses and formats that work well for mixed groups. We can advise on which venues are particularly welcoming to higher handicappers or beginners, and where the emphasis is more on the experience than the scorecard. If any members of your group are complete beginners, we can also arrange introductory lessons or recommend more relaxed, scenic courses where the priority is enjoyment over competition.
Yes. Everyone in the group doesn’t have to be in the same room type, so we can mix twins, doubles, singles, and upgraded rooms within a single booking. This works well where budgets or preferences vary across the group, and pricing is worked out per room so everyone pays for what they’ve chosen. Just let your specialist know the breakdown and we’ll structure the booking around it.
Non-golfers share the same accommodation as the rest of the group and enjoy everything off the course, including any meals in the golfers’ package and full use of the hotel’s leisure facilities. Some venues charge a small fee for certain facilities, which we’ll confirm when you book. Your specialist will spell out exactly what’s included in your proposal.
We work with groups of all sizes, from couples and small groups of friends to large golf societies and corporate parties of sixty or more. For larger groups, we manage block tee time bookings, group accommodation allocations, and all associated logistics as a single coordinated package. If you have an unusually large or complex group, speak to our team and we will advise on the best way to structure the booking.
Yes, corporate golf travel is a significant part of what we do. We regularly plan company golf days abroad, client entertainment trips, and incentive travel programmes for businesses of all sizes. We can manage everything from the golf and accommodation to evening dinners, prize arrangements, and team-building activities. For corporate clients, we also offer dedicated account management and branded itinerary documents. Get in touch with a brief outline of your requirements and we will put together a tailored proposal.
Managing Your Booking
Date changes are often possible, subject to availability at the courses and accommodation already booked. Because any change depends on the terms of the hotels and courses involved, some amendments may carry a charge if suppliers apply one. The best thing to do is speak to your specialist as early as possible, and we’ll do what we can to accommodate the change.
Let your specialist know in writing as soon as possible. Deposits are non-refundable, and any further charges depend on how close to travel you are. It’s often possible to transfer that person’s place to someone else with enough notice, though bear in mind that if numbers leave an odd person, a single room supplement may apply. We’ll always make clear where you stand before anything is actioned.
If you need to cancel, the lead name should let us know in writing as soon as possible, as cancellations only take effect once we receive written notice. Depending on how close to travel you are, some charges may apply, and these increase the nearer you get to departure. In many cases it’s also possible to transfer the booking to someone else instead of cancelling, which can be a good way to avoid charges. The full detail is set out in our Cancellation Policy, and if the reason for cancelling is covered by your travel insurance, you may be able to reclaim any charges.
Yes, we can often add extra rounds, nights, or people after your booking is confirmed, subject to availability at the resort and courses. We’ll confirm the additional cost with you before anything is locked in, so just get in touch with your specialist and we’ll sort the details.
Yes. If anything about your trip changes before you travel, such as a tee time or an accommodation detail, we’ll contact you as soon as we’re aware of it and talk through the options. Your specialist is your point of contact throughout, right up to departure, so you’re never left in the dark.
Your booking is in safe hands. We’re a member of ABTA, and package holidays booked with us are financially protected, giving you confidence that your money and your arrangements are secure. Our full booking conditions and cancellation policy are available on our website and included with your booking confirmation, and your specialist is always happy to talk through anything that isn’t clear.

As an ABTA member, we handle every booking with full financial protection, so the investment you make in your golf holiday is secure from the moment you confirm. We’re clear and upfront on pricing, straightforward if plans need to change, and always happy to talk you through exactly where you stand. It’s the reassurance that lets you book with total confidence.

Golf
Yes. While most of our trips combine golf and accommodation as a package, we can arrange golf-only bookings if you’ve already sorted your own accommodation or you’re travelling locally. Just let your specialist know what you’re after and we’ll put together the tee times and green fees to suit.
Yes. If you’d rather travel light, we can arrange club hire at many of our resorts and add it to your booking, so a set is ready and waiting when you arrive. Let your specialist know your requirements and we’ll confirm availability and cost as part of your proposal.
Golf goes ahead in most conditions, and courses will often switch to temporary tees and greens rather than close. If a course does close and you can’t play, any refund or voucher is at the course’s discretion and isn’t guaranteed, which is why we consider suitable travel insurance essential. You’ll find the full detail in our Inclement Weather Policy, and we’re happy to check a course’s status for you before you travel.
This varies by resort. At some venues buggies are included in the package rate, while at others they’re available to hire locally for an additional charge. We’ll always make it clear whether buggies are included in your quote, and if they’re not, we can usually arrange them for you in advance so they’re ready when you arrive.
Yes. We book your tee times as part of the package and schedule them around your group’s preferences, whether that’s early starts, relaxed later mornings, or spacing rounds for rest, with your confirmed times shown on your booking confirmation. Times are usually based on four-balls, so in busier periods you may be paired with other golfers, and if a course ever needs to adjust a time we’ll arrange the nearest alternative.
We’d recommend arriving at least 30 to 45 minutes before your tee time. That gives you enough time to check in at the pro shop, collect any buggies or hire clubs, warm up on the range or putting green, and get to the first tee relaxed and ready to play.
Travel
No. Our packages cover your golf, accommodation, and transfers where applicable, but not flights. This gives you the freedom to book the flights, or other travel, that suit you best, and many of our customers drive or travel via Eurotunnel. If you’d like a hand working out the best way to reach your destination, just ask and we’ll point you in the right direction.
Yes. If you’d prefer the flexibility of your own vehicle during your trip, we can help arrange car hire to suit your group and luggage, including room for golf bags. Let your specialist know your requirements and we’ll take care of it.
Requirements vary by destination, but if you’re driving abroad you’ll typically need a full valid driving licence, your vehicle documents, appropriate insurance cover, and any items required by law in the countries you’re travelling through. We’ll flag anything specific to your trip, but we’d always recommend checking the latest government guidance for your destination before you travel.
Transfers are included on many of our packages, and where they’re not, we can usually arrange them for you. We’ll make it clear in your proposal whether transfers are part of your package, and if you need to get from an airport, port, or Eurotunnel terminal to your resort, let us know and we’ll sort the details.
Of course. Since we don’t include flights, how your clubs travel is down to your own transport arrangements, and if you’re driving or taking the Eurotunnel there’s normally plenty of room for club bags. If you’d rather travel light, we can also look into club hire at many of our resorts.
This depends on your destination and your nationality. Many of our European destinations don’t require a visa for short stays, but entry requirements can change, so we’d always recommend checking the latest official guidance for your destination and passport well ahead of travel. If you’re unsure, your specialist can point you in the right direction.
