C Mauritius

A relaxed, all-inclusive beach hotel on the Palmar coast, a short hop from the Legend and Links championship courses at Constance Belle Mare Plage. It suits golfers who want two strong courses nearby without the formality of a big five-star, plus a lively, easygoing base to come back to.

Key Information

Barefoot Beach Living, Championship Golf Down the Road

C Mauritius isn’t a golf resort in the traditional sense, and that’s part of its appeal. It sits on the Palmar Coast on the island’s east side, on a beach in a shallow bay with a reef break beyond and the Palmar lagoon out front. It’s run by Constance, which matters for golfers because it gives you access to two of the best courses in Mauritius just down the road.

The Legend course is about 3.7 miles away, and the Links sits right next to it. The Legend opened in 1994 and is the more demanding of the two. It’s tight in places, cut through native woodland, with water in play and Tifdwarf greens. Java deer roam the Legend while the Links has broad views over the Indian Ocean. The Legend is aimed at stronger players, while the wider Links is the friendlier option for higher handicappers. Playing both over a week gives you a good mix.

Back at the hotel, things are more casual. There are 116 bright, modern rooms, split between Prestige and Deluxe categories, with beachfront versions of each. Prestige rooms come in at roughly 40 square metres with a balcony or terrace facing the sea. You’ll find three pools, one with swings looking out to sea, plus a spa.

Dining is all-inclusive:

  • The main restaurant serves buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner, with big windows onto the ocean.
  • There’s also an Asian à la carte restaurant, a main bar, a beach bar and a wine cellar.
  • Instead of room service there’s the Cpicerie, a deli where you pick up food and drinks to take back to your room or down to the beach.

If you want a day off the course, Port Louis is around 25 miles away, with Pamplemousses Botanical Garden and the Caudan Waterfront within reach. Île aux Cerfs, a popular island day trip, is also a short drive and boat ride south along the coast.

Key Information

Expect good, well-kept golf rather than a golf-centric hotel. The courses are at Constance Belle Mare Plage, so you’ll be shuttling across for your rounds. The atmosphere back at base is relaxed rather than polished: staff are on first-name terms quickly, the music’s on at the bar, and nobody minds sandy feet.

The essentials:

  • Courses: Two 18-hole championship courses, the Legend and the Links. The Links is par 71 and generally the gentler round, with a practice fairway and a golf academy offering lessons for all levels.
  • Green fees: Some packages include complimentary green fees on both courses, along with transfers, though other operators list green fees and taxi transfers as chargeable. Check what your package covers.

Why Stay at C Mauritius?

C Mauritius makes sense if you want quality golf without paying five-star prices or sitting through five-star formality. It’s a smaller, younger-feeling sister to the big Constance resorts, and the tone is set from the start: your welcome drink comes from a “mad scientist concoctor machine” and arrives in a conical flask. That sums the place up. It’s playful and doesn’t take itself seriously.

The all-inclusive is a big draw for golfers. Come back from the Legend, grab a drink at the beach bar and you won’t have to think about the bill. The package covers all meals, a premium bar and the minibar. Kayaks, paddleboards, snorkelling and windsurfing are on the house, with kitesurfing at extra cost, and the resort holds an annual kite festival, which tells you something about the east coast wind. That breeze keeps things comfortable in the heat but can add a club or two on the exposed holes.
