La Serena Golf meanders through the quiet coastal town of Los Alcázares, bordering the picturesque saltwater lagoon of Mar Menor. There’s a great stretch of beach near the marina beset with buzzing bars and restaurants and certainly enough nightlife to keep you entertained during your stay.

Golf remains the highlight. Constructed around the 500-year old Torre del Rame watchtower, La Serena Golf is a Par 72 course which was designed by Spanish Ryder Cup player Manuel Pinero (1981, 1985) and opened in 2006. You may need to bring plenty of balls with you during your round, since there are water hazards in play on 16 of the 18 holes; keep your iron play tidy if you want to avoid too many penalties! Stretching 7,329 yards, the course provides an interesting challenge, with 4 Par 3s and 4 Par 5s.

Accommodation-wise, there’s not much more you can ask for in terms of value and convenience. The private balconies overlook the fairways. The kithcens are fully-equipped and apartments are air-conditioned. Most importantly, however, the town centre is a kilometre away!
