Old Thorns Hotel & Golf Resort sits on the edge of the South Downs in Liphook, Hampshire, offering a straightforward golf break that’s easy to get to and easy to enjoy. The 18-hole course is a well-designed parkland layout with wide fairways, plenty of bunkering and enough water to keep things interesting without being punishing. It’s playable for mid-handicappers but still asks questions from better golfers, especially on the back nine.

The course winds through mature woodland and open heathland, giving it a calm, spacious feel. Greens are usually well kept and true, making it a solid test without being overly demanding. Practice facilities are good, with a driving range and short-game area on site.
