Bernardus Golf

Designed by Kyle Phillips, the architect behind celebrated courses including Kingsbarns and The Grove, Bernardus Golf is one of Europe’s finest heathland layouts and a worthy host for the 2026 Solheim Cup. Spread across 85 hectares of dunes, heath, and gorse in the Netherlands, the course features four par threes, ten par fours, and four par fives, with beautifully positioned bunkers and water hazards that blend naturally into the surrounding landscape. What sets Bernardus apart beyond its design credentials is its remarkable commitment to sustainability. The course is maintained entirely without chemicals, with a dedicated team of 17 greenkeepers working to preserve the natural balance of the soil and keep the course in exceptional condition year round. Since opening, Bernardus Golf has hosted the Dutch Open in 2021, 2022, and 2023 as part of the European PGA Tour, cementing its reputation as one of the continent’s premier championship venues.

How It Works

The Solheim Cup was first contested in Florida in 1990, founded by club manufacturer Karsten Solheim and his wife Louise, whose passion for growing the women’s game provided the driving force behind its creation. Held every two years, the competition pits a team of 12 European players against 12 from the United States across three days of match play that routinely produces some of the most compelling and emotionally charged golf you will ever witness as a spectator.

The format mirrors that of the Ryder Cup, with 28 matches played across the three days. The opening two days feature eight foursomes and eight fourball matches, before 12 singles contests on the final day determine the outcome. Every point matters, every putt carries weight, and the team atmosphere generated by both sets of players and their supporters creates an electricity that is unique to this format of the game.

In 2026, the Netherlands will host the Solheim Cup for the first time, with Bernardus Golf in Cromvoirt providing a stunning and highly capable stage for the event. Away from the competition itself, the week promises a broader festival atmosphere with entertainment and activities that make it a rewarding experience for every member of your group, regardless of how closely they follow the women’s tour.

The Den, 's-Hertogenbosch

Located in the vibrant city of ‘s-Hertogenbosch, known locally as Den Bosch, The Den is a stylish four-star Tribute Portfolio Hotel and the closest major accommodation option to Bernardus Golf Club. With our included shared transfers, the journey to the course takes approximately 15 minutes, meaning you spend less time travelling and more time enjoying the golf. The hotel itself is contemporary and well appointed, with highlights including the signature Current Rooftop Bar, which offers panoramic views across the city skyline, ideal for a post-match debrief. Beyond the hotel, Den Bosch rewards exploration. The medieval city centre is a short walk away, offering canals, independent restaurants, and a rich Burgundian food and drink culture that makes evenings away from the course just as enjoyable as the days spent at them.
