A Smart City Base for Travelling Golfers

Set at the western end of Dubai Marina, The First Collection is a large, modern hotel a short walk from Marina Beach and a free shuttle ride from Dubai Marina Mall. For golfers, the location works well. The Montgomerie is a quick drive away, and Dubai Hills, Arabian Ranches and the Els Club are all within easy reach, along with Emirates Golf Club and Jumeirah Golf Estates. Rooms are clean-lined and comfortable, with floor-to-ceiling windows that make the most of the marina and sea views, plus soundproofing and free Wi-Fi.

After a round, most guests end up at the rooftop pool and Chillz Bar beside it, with the towers lighting up around them. Alloro serves Italian food as well as breakfast, and there’s a spa with a sauna and hammam for tired legs. Selected rooms also include access to Soluna Beach Club on Palm Jumeirah. It’s a practical, well-placed base for a Dubai golf trip, with plenty to do once the clubs are packed away.

Key Information

Rooms are modern and comfortable rather than lavish, with large windows, good-sized beds and soundproofing that helps in such a busy part of the city. The views are the highlight, so a higher floor or a marina-view room is worth requesting. Check-in is straightforward, though the lobby can get busy at peak times, and service gets consistently good feedback.

Dubai International Airport is usually 30 to 40 minutes away by car. The Montgomerie, Dubai Hills and Arabian Ranches are all a short drive, so early tee times are easy to make before the heat builds. Marina Beach is a short walk, and a free shuttle runs to Dubai Marina Mall and the DMCC Metro station. The heated rooftop pool is handy in the cooler months, though it’s on the compact side and can get busy.

This year it’s was time to try Portugal. What a fantastic trip we had, it was seamless from start to finish. A great hotel, lovely food and the service was second to none. The courses were amazing. All in all another fantastic golf tour. Now we need to decide on the venue for next year with the added bonus of knowing Phil will sort us out wherever we choose.

Very prompt response to our initial enquiry about our golf holiday. Came back later on the same day with a range of options. Lots of information, which made it so easy for us to make a group decision about all aspects of our holiday. Phone calls returned and polite, sociable and courteous staff.

Why Stay at The First Collection Dubai Marina?

The First Collection suits golfers who want a good spread of Dubai courses close by and a lively base to come back to. The Montgomerie, Dubai Hills and Arabian Ranches are all a short drive, with the Els Club, Emirates and Jumeirah Golf Estates nearby for anyone adding extra rounds. Back at the hotel, the rooftop pool and bar make an easy place to finish the day, and the marina promenade is close for dinner. Prices are fair for the area, though the pool is small for a hotel this size, and a marina-facing room is worth asking for, as the rear looks over a less scenic industrial area.
