Expect the course in good nick year-round – the bent grass greens run true and the place is well set up for visiting golfers, with a proper practice range, academy and caddy hire. There’s one 18-hole championship layout on site, plus those complimentary shuttles to the two neighbouring courses if you fancy variety. Standard of play is strong, a valid handicap certificate is required, and softspikes only. Royal Óbidos has hosted the Open de Portugal on the European Challenge Tour several times since 2020, so the conditioning and setup hold up to tournament scrutiny. Service is unhurried and attentive rather than flashy, and the clubhouse terrace is a genuinely good spot for a beer after the round. It leans more quiet retreat than rowdy golf hotel.

3rd Year running we have booked with the Golf Travel Centre and will probably continue to do so, they always provide what we required at a good price and has managed to sort out any bumps in the road.

How to get what you want for your holiday
