Plus Fariones Suite Hotel sits right on Playa Grande, the main stretch of golden sand in Puerto del Carmen, with the seafront promenade running past the front door. It’s one of the best-placed hotels in the resort. The beach is a couple of minutes away, the old town and fishing harbour are an easy walk along the coast, and there are plenty of bars and restaurants within a few hundred metres.

The hotel was fully refurbished in 2023, and it shows. The look is clean and contemporary, with light colours and natural materials, and it doesn’t feel clinical. All 229 rooms are suites spread over five floors, each with a separate living area, a kitchenette with fridge, microwave and kettle, air conditioning and a balcony or terrace. Sea-view suites are worth the extra if you can stretch to them, and the higher floors give the best outlook.

Outside, three palm-lined pools (one for children) sit in gardens overlooking the beach, with sun terraces and Bali beds for afternoons off the course. The buffet restaurant covers breakfast and dinner, with show-cooking stations, and the pool bar becomes a chill-out bar in the evening. Massages are available, and you can hire bikes to explore the coast.

Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is at midday. Reception is open 24 hours, so late arrivals on evening flights from the UK aren’t a problem, though the hotel asks you to let them know your arrival time. Lanzarote Airport is about 10km away, roughly a 15-minute transfer, which makes this one of the quickest hotels on the island to reach.

Service is generally friendly and efficient, and cleanliness comes up again and again in guest feedback.

The location is the main reason to stay here. Plenty of Puerto del Carmen hotels say they’re close to the beach, but this one is actually on it, and you’re still within walking distance of the town’s best restaurants and the harbour. Add a short hop to Lanzarote Golf and a quick airport transfer, and you’ll spend very little of your trip in a car.

The 2023 refurbishment has given the hotel a fresh, modern feel. The suites also give you more space than a standard hotel room, which helps when you’re travelling with golf bags.
