Relaxed Algarve Golf by the Coast

NH Lagos is a four-star hotel set in the heart of Lagos, one of the Algarve’s most characterful coastal towns. While there’s no golf course on site, you’re within easy reach of several top Algarve layouts, including Boavista Golf, Palmares, and Espiche, all around a 10–15 minute drive.

The golf nearby is varied and enjoyable. Palmares offers rolling links-style holes with sea views, Boavista is a solid championship-style course with wide fairways and elevated tees, and Espiche is quieter and more natural, winding through countryside just outside town. Together, they give you plenty of choice across a short break or full week.

Back at the hotel, rooms are comfortable and modern, with balconies and good space for golf gear. There are multiple restaurants and bars on site, plus a spa, indoor and outdoor pools, and a private beach club at Meia Praia, reached by shuttle in season. Service is friendly and efficient rather than flashy. Lagos itself is a big part of the appeal. You can walk to the marina, old town restaurants, and bars, making it easy to head out in the evening without taxis. Faro Airport is about an hour away, keeping transfers straightforward.

This is a relaxed, convenient base rather than a traditional golf resort. Courses nearby are well maintained year-round, with layouts suitable for most handicap levels. Palmares is the standout for views and design, while Boavista offers a more forgiving test.

The hotel atmosphere is calm and social without feeling busy or loud. Staff are helpful, breakfast is reliable, and everything runs smoothly, ideal for golfers who value ease over formality. Tee times are easily arranged in advance, and travel between courses is simple. There are no courses on site, but the surrounding Algarve courses regularly feature in European and professional events, adding credibility to the golfing pedigree of the area.

Had a great trip to Portugal sorted by Dan and his team and at great price, cheaper than competitors. Trip was everything we asked for and went flawlessly. Communication back and forth from Golf Travel Centre was excellent. Will use again for the next trip for sure.
