La Quinta Resort & Club sits at the foot of the Santa Rosa Mountains in California’s Coachella Valley, about 30 minutes from Palm Springs. It’s a large, established resort with a low-rise layout made up of individual casitas rather than a single hotel block, which gives it a more open, village-style feel.

Golf is a major draw here, with five courses on-site and access to two more at PGA West nearby. The La Quinta Resort Courses—Dunes and Mountain—are the standouts. The Mountain Course, designed by Pete Dye, is the more memorable of the two, with dramatic elevation changes, tight landing areas, and plenty of risk-reward shots. It’s not overly long but demands accuracy, especially on approach. The Dunes Course is more forgiving, with wider fairways and a more traditional desert layout.

Across the wider PGA West complex, you’ve got access to some of the most recognisable resort golf in the US, including the Stadium Course, known for its island green 17th and regular PGA Tour use.

Off the course, the resort delivers well. There are multiple pools, a well-regarded spa, and a good mix of dining options, from casual to more upscale. Rooms are spacious, comfortable, and spread out, which suits longer stays or group trips.
