Sitting at the point where the Bouregreg River meets the Atlantic Ocean, the Fairmont La Marina Rabat-Salé opened in late 2022 as the finest hotel in Morocco‘s capital.
Luxury Resort

Key Information
Most visitors to Morocco head south to Marrakech. Rabat, the country’s actual capital, tends to get overlooked. That’s changing fast. A UNESCO World Heritage city with Roman ruins, a medieval medina, and one of the most striking estuary settings in North Africa, Rabat is making a serious play for well-travelled visitors. The Fairmont La Marina Rabat-Salé is leading the way.
Dining is one of the hotel’s genuine strengths. L’écume covers French brasserie cooking with local ingredients and also serves a generous buffet breakfast. Le Dahlia is the Moroccan and Levantine restaurant, with bread baked daily in a traditional oven and a kitchen led by chef Mohammed Amine. Up on the roof, Le Deck handles Nikkei-inspired sharing plates with panoramic estuary views, and barman Zouhair’s cocktails have earned a following of their own among regular visitors.
The Fairmont Spa adds ten treatment rooms, a hammam suite, and a Natura Bissé skincare menu to a property that is already thoroughly well-equipped.

The hotel sits on the Salé side of the Bouregreg River, which puts it technically outside Rabat’s city limits. In practice the two cities feel seamlessly connected, but it does mean the property sits at a slight remove from the old medina, which is worth knowing if you’re planning to spend time in the historic quarter. The feel here is calm and residential rather than right in the thick of things.
Here are some key facts about staying at the Fairmont La Marina Rabat-Salé:

For golfers travelling to Morocco, Rabat makes an increasingly compelling base. Royal Golf Dar Es Salam is 15 minutes from the hotel by road. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. on 440 hectares of cork oak forest and commissioned by King Hassan II, it offers 45 holes across three courses. The Red Course is the headline act – a par 73 stretching 7,372 yards and one of the finest Robert Trent Jones Sr. designs anywhere in the world. It has hosted the Trophée Hassan II every year since 1971, and in 2010 it joined the European Tour, with Welsh rookie Rhys Davies claiming that inaugural edition. The signature 9th hole, a par 3 played entirely over a lily pond to an island green, is one of the most photographed holes in African golf. The Blue Course offers an 18-hole alternative at a more manageable length, while the 9-hole Green Course suits those after something shorter. Beyond Dar Es Salam, further courses sit within 30 to 90 minutes along the Atlantic coast. It’s a more refined, unhurried version of Morocco, and the hotel reflects that well.
