The Island Oasis of Ras Al Khaimah

Set on Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah, the DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island is a full-scale beachfront resort rather than a dedicated golf property. There’s no course on site, but Al Hamra Golf Club is around 7 km away, making it a convenient option for combining resort time with championship golf.

Al Hamra is the main draw for golfers. Designed by Peter Harradine, the par-72 course stretches to 7,400 yards and winds around four interconnected lagoons. Water is a constant visual feature, while five sets of tees make the layout manageable for different handicaps. It has hosted the DP World Tour’s Ras Al Khaimah Championship, so the conditioning and overall set-up are of a high standard.

Back at the hotel, the focus shifts firmly to relaxation. There’s a 650-metre private beach, seven pools, 13 bars and restaurants, a spa, padel courts and plenty of watersports. Rooms and suites overlook either the sea or gardens, while Dubai International Airport is around 65 km away, so Ras Al Khaimah can easily work as a standalone trip or alongside a few nights in Dubai.

This year it’s was time to try Portugal. What a fantastic trip we had, it was seamless from start to finish. A great hotel, lovely food and the service was second to none. The courses were amazing. All in all another fantastic golf tour. Now we need to decide on the venue for next year with the added bonus of knowing Phil will sort us out wherever we choose.
