Crete Golf Club & Hotel sits slightly inland from Hersonissos, around 25 minutes from Heraklion Airport, in a quieter part of the island surrounded by hills and rocky Cretan landscape. The main attraction is the golf itself—this is Crete’s only full 18-hole championship course, making it a natural choice for golfers visiting the island.

Originally designed by Bob Hunt and later renovated by European Golf Design, the course stretches through wide valleys, elevated tees, and rugged terrain, with large changes in elevation shaping many of the holes. It’s a modern resort layout with generous fairways in places, but the sloping greens, water hazards, and uneven lies keep you focused throughout the round. The back nine is generally considered the stronger side, with several elevated holes offering wide views across the surrounding countryside.

Accommodation is modern and fairly low-key, with spacious suites overlooking the course and mountains. The atmosphere is peaceful rather than lively, suiting golfers who want a quieter base. There’s a clubhouse restaurant and bar on-site, plus practice facilities including a driving range and short-game area. Hersonissos and the north coast beaches are close enough for evenings out if you want a change of pace.
