A Familiar Favourite With a New Lease of Life

Sol Arona Tenerife has been part of Los Cristianos since the 1970s, and plenty of British travellers will remember it. What you’ll find now is a very different hotel. In early 2026 it reopened after a full €25 million renovation, the first property in Meliá’s relaunched SOL brand, and the change is clear as soon as you walk into the lobby: brighter, cleaner and far more modern than before.

Location is the big draw. You’re about 200 metres from Los Cristianos beach and a few minutes’ walk from the promenade, harbour, bars and restaurants, so you won’t need a taxi for dinner out. Tenerife South Airport is roughly 15 to 20 minutes away by car, and Golf Las Américas, the nearest course, is a five-minute drive. Golf Costa Adeje, Amarilla Golf and Golf del Sur are all comfortably reachable within about half an hour.

There are 296 rooms, all renovated, all with a balcony or terrace, and most look out to sea. The style is minimalist and practical rather than plush, and guests regularly mention how spacious and clean they are. Rooms with a separate lounge are worth considering if you want a bit more space to unwind after a round.

Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is at midday, with a 24-hour reception, so a late flight isn’t an issue. Some recent guests arriving late in the evening were pleasantly surprised to find food and water waiting in their room. Service is generally described as warm and helpful, and the entertainment team gets regular praise.

Rooms feel light and modern, with air conditioning, flatscreen TVs, a safe, tea and coffee facilities and free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. If the view matters to you, the Xtra Sol Superior rooms on the upper floors face the sea directly and are worth the upgrade.
