ABOUT THE RESORT

We are a small, friendly 3 star hotel, and the first in St Andrews to be awarded the prestigious title ‘Townhouse Hotel’ by the Scottish Tourist Board. The quaint old building has a warm personality all of its own.

The Albany Hotel is a boutique, informal, 3-star hotel situated in the heart of historic St Andrews. the hotel does not serve lunch or dinner but benefiting from its central location, the hotel is close to all local amenities, various shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. The hotel is situated opposite St Andrews University, with St Andrews Castle and Cathedral both a stone’s throw away. The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews and the world-famous Old Course are within a short walking distance.

The hotel building itself is a delightful conversion of a traditional Georgian terraced town house dating from 1764. The hotel is set over 4 floors and due to the age of the building and its listed building status there are no lifts here. We do however have some ground floor rooms, so please get in touch should you wish to be allocated one of those.

Privately owned and family run, the Albany Hotel extends a warm welcome to all our guests and offers accommodation to suit all requirements. We cater for families, groups and individuals, whether it be for business, pleasure, weekend breaks or golf holidays.

Here at The Albany Hotel, you will love the craftsmanship of the many original features. Built from 1764, the hotel consists of two Georgian terraced houses, both exactly the same layout, built for two brothers by their father, Mr Thomas Low.

With only 22 rooms (all en-suite), we are able to maintain very high standards in accommodation and service without losing our warm and caring attitude towards our guests.
