Golf Breaks in Alicante

Alicante delivers exactly what discerning golfers want: reliable sunshine, superb coastal and inland courses, and that relaxed Mediterranean lifestyle that makes every round feel like a proper escape from the everyday.

The Costa Blanca region around Alicante has quietly become one of Europe’s most versatile golf destinations. You’ll find everything from seafront resorts in Torrevieja to mountain courses near Alicante city, with excellent options around Elche, Orihuela Costa, and the quieter inland areas towards Monforte del Cid. The accommodation scene covers smart coastal apartments perfect for groups, traditional Spanish villas with private pools, and four-star resort hotels with spa facilities.

Alicante-Elche Airport sits just 15 minutes from several top courses, with direct flights from most UK airports taking around two and a half hours. That accessibility makes Alicante ideal for long weekends as well as week-long breaks. The region appeals to everyone from societies wanting guaranteed weather and competitive pricing to couples seeking a mix of golf and cultural exploration. Unlike busier Spanish costas, Alicante retains an authentically Spanish character whilst offering all the facilities international golfers expect.

Best time to play golf in Alicante

Alicante works for golf almost year round, which is precisely why it’s become so popular with British golfers escaping the soggy months back home. Spring from March through May is probably peak season, with daytime temperatures between 18 and 25 degrees and courses in prime condition after winter rains. Autumn runs a close second, particularly September through November when temperatures drop from summer highs but remain comfortably in the low to mid twenties. Summer gets hot, genuinely hot, with July and August seeing temperatures above 30 degrees, sometimes pushing 35. Early tee times become essential then, and you’ll want to avoid midday rounds unless you fancy feeling like a Sunday roast.

Winter from December through February offers the best value, with green fees often half the spring prices. You’ll get plenty of days around 16 to 18 degrees, perfect for golf, though you might encounter the occasional rainy spell. Avoid Easter week if crowds bother you, as Spanish holidaymakers flock to the coast.

Costa Blanca attracts over 3.2 million international golf tourists annually

The Alicante region, marketed as Costa Blanca, has developed into Spain’s second-largest golf tourism market after Andalusia, generating an estimated 850 million euros in annual golf-related tourism revenue. The province contains approximately 20 regulation golf courses concentrated primarily in two clusters around Alicante city and the southern coastal corridor towards Torrevieja.(1)

Average golf tourist spends 175 euros per day in the Alicante region

Golf visitors to the Costa Blanca demonstrate significantly higher daily spending compared to general leisure tourists, with accommodation, green fees, dining, and related activities contributing to the regional economy. The typical golf break lasts 4.8 nights, generating approximately 840 euros per visitor during their stay. (2)

325 days of sunshine annually make Alicante Europe's most reliable golf climate

Alicante province records more sunny days than any other major European golf destination, including southern Portugal and Mediterranean islands.
