Where To Play Golf in Augusta

USA Golf Holidays

Getting the chance to play golf at Augusta National is near impossible. Unless you’re a member which is again, near impossible, the only way to experience Amen Corner as a player is by obscure means such as being a caddie or volunteering at the Masters tournament.

But, fear not, if you’re visiting the Augusta area either before, during or after the Masters, there are plenty of superb golf courses to choose from.

It’s important to bear in mind that tee-times for golf courses in the Augusta area during the week of the tournament get booked up rapidly and even if you manage to secure one, you’ll be paying inflated prices.

Forest Hills Golf Club

Designed by Donald Ross and renovated by the Arnold Palmer Co., Forest Hills has won many accolades since opening in 1926. Steeped in history, it’s known for its generous fairways and challenging greens.

Aiken Golf Club

Dating back to 1912, Aiken Golf Club is said to be the first U.S. course to have built tees specifically for ladies. The club features a nine-hole putting course and full-service restaurant and bar making it an excellent day out.

Champions Retreat Golf Club

It does what it says on the tin. Normally a private club, Champions Retreat first opened to the public during Masters Week 2016. Featuring three individually designed courses by Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus, it’s a rare but world-class location.

Jones Creek Golf Club

The Jones Creek Golf Club offers what may be the best modern-era course in the Augusta area. Designed by Rees Jones who took advantage of the area’s rolling hills, this parkland-style course offers a real challenge.

The River Golf Club

Set along the banks of the Savannah River, the River Golf Club has certainly established itself as one of the best course designs in the area. The layout incorporates water on 14 of the holes, adding to its difficulty but also making it a beautiful round of golf.
