Having been fully refurbished in 2015, the Villa Mercede Hotel boasts a contemporary decor throughout as well as the utmost cleanliness. The 61 rooms all come with air conditioning, a minibar, LCD television and a private bathroom to ensure a truly comfortable stay.
Away from the rooms, there are several impressive dining options available. As you wake up for the day, a buffet breakfast is available, fuelling you for a day of golf or sightseeing. La Cucina Con Vista is the main on-site restaurant serving brunch, lunch and dinner as well as an extensive wine list.
The fresh Italian food served can be enjoyed inside overlooking the beautiful Rome landscape through traditional large windows or poolside while basking in the sunshine. The hotel is lucky enough to be based near some of the finest golf courses in Italy including Castlegandolfo and Macro Simone golf and country club, the host of the 2023 Ryder Cup and as you head nearer to Rome's city centre you will find Acquasanta.
Course designer Jim Fazio has been responsible for the creation of some of the best courses in the world having masterminded courses like Trump National in New York and Lost Lakes Golf Club, Florida both of which are widely revered as 2 of the most beautiful courses in America. The Championship Course at Marcio Simone Golf Club is the headline course and boasts 18 fantastically designed holes that weave through the stunning natural landscape. The course features undulating fairways, small greens that are often well protected and some of the best tee shots in the country. In 2022 the Ryder Cup is to be staged here on the Championship course and with the two Molinari brothers being the 2 of only the 3 Italian players to ever be picked for the Ryder Cup team they will be desperate to play on home soil.
The resort course is by far the easier of the 2 courses at Marco Simone Golf Club and is perfect for beginners due to the simple and shorter layout of the holes. The course is only 9 holes but is typically turned into 18 by players playing the loop of 9 twice. Despite being the shorter and the less well known of the 2 courses, the resort course still provides wonderful views of the natural surroundings and contains challenging holes that even a low handicapper will enjoy.
On top of a stunning 27 holes, Marco Simone Golf Club also has an incredible driving range which is great for those looking to warm up in a beautiful setting before their round of golf. The range consists of 3 terraces allowing golfers to practice on grass throughout the year and with the length of the driving range being what it is, players can practice in complete safety from both ends meaning there is always plenty of space for everyone. After the round the clubhouse is a fantastic place to enjoy a few beers and marvel in the panoramic views of the natural landscape from the terrace.
