Ozo Golf Club, Riga
The first 18-hole golf course in Latvia. It is equipped with Rain Bird watering system and quality course maintenance by John Deere. The course is located in Riga - the capital of Latvia, only 8 km - 10 minutes drive from the downtown. The club owner is Sandis Ozolinsh, well known Latvian ice hockey player. Club's name - Ozo - comes from Sandis nickname in the NHL.
The course has 18 holes, with a total distance of 6400 meters from the back tees, and can surprise everyone with its variety. Denver (Colorado, USA) based designer Rob Swedberg has managed to implement the accents of his native Rocky Mountains, widely adapted the banks of the nearby Lake Kisezers, as well as formed 16 ponds and 50 sand bunkers in the course.
Other facilities include: a driving range, conveniently situated in front of the club house, as well as chipping and putting greens.
In 2002, Ozo Golf Club received an award as the Best Natural Architecture Project in Latvia.
Pärnu Bay Golf Links, Estonia
A stuning links course in the true sense of the word: a coastal stretch of land with sandy soil and fescue grasses - a true test of a golfer's ability.
The course was designed by architect Lassi Pekka Tilander with Mick McShane as the lead shaper, best known as the lead shaper for St. Andrews Links’ Castle Course and Kingsbarns Golf Links.
The course is the first links course in the Baltic region and features wide fairways and expansive sand areas, as well as multi-leveled greens with bold movement. The par-72 course plays from 4,500 to 6,200 meters. The course also features par-three course of 5 holes, driving range, putting green, marvelous clubhouse facing the sea with a fully equipped pro shop, saunas and restaurant EAGLE offering Scottish flavors with a Nordic twist.
Niitvälja Golf Course
Being the only 18-hole course in the Baltics during the 90s, Niitvälja as the location-name has become the synonym of golf in Estonia and is called the home of Estonian golf.
Niitvälja golf course was first opened in 1993 with 9 holes and a wide variety of practice facilities. The 18- hole course designed by Swede Åke Persson was opened in 1994. The first course had a mixture of Park-course holes and inland links holes but in 2006 with the help of an English golf architect Peter Chamberlain 5 new holes were created, turning the whole course into a pure Park-course. With the added water hazards it can be said that Niitvälja is now defined by testing holes and plenty of beautiful ponds – a true park. The signature hole is a par five running along a water hazard and finishing with island green.
