Built in 1976, the Almerimar Golf Course is the only 27-hole course in the province and is set among a beautiful landscape of lakes and palm trees. This enormous golf course is surrounded by lush vegetation with sandy beaches and the Mediterranean Sea only a stone’s throw away. Ideally located close to the Hotel Almerimar, this 72-par course boasts wide fairways and plenty of natural hazards that protect fast greens.

The Almerimar Golf Course layout is undoubtedly American in style and offers lots of possibilities for golfers of all abilities. However, more experienced players can guarantee that a high level of concentration is needed to master some of the more complex water hazards. Beginners can make the most of the generous practice area with a chipping green that features three exercise holes and shelters, as well as a putting green with nine exercise holes.

It originally opened in 1979 and features a British design, with large fairways and hazardous greens that are protected by well-placed bunkers and nine lakes.

Suitable for players of all levels, the 72-par course features a wide variety of genuine Mediterranean vegetation. The perimeter is made up of evergreens, mimosas, and tamarisks, while the gardens have bougainvillea, carrascos pine, eucalyptus, frangipanis, fan palms, olive trees and oleanders. Almeria is fast becoming the go-to location for golfers seeking an idyllic retreat all year round. Marina del Torres’ first three holes and last four holes overlook the Mediterranean Sea, offering incredible views as far as the eye can see. 4. Valle del Este Golf Course

The Valle del Este Golf Resort is an ideal escape for couples looking to indulge in a golf and spa break. Soak up views of the Mediterranean from the eastern terraces of the hotel, overlooking the course’s last five holes. Whether you’re waking up to the bright sunrises or cosying up to the stunning sunsets, you’ll always have a view of the golf course. 

Designed in 2003 by José Canales, the Valle del Este Golf Course beautifully incorporates the natural flora and untouched contours of the original farm that once stood. The 18-hole course offers spectacular views of the countryside, but it’s not just the scenery that makes this golf course hard to forget.

Desert undulations have been used to great effect and most tee boxes are played from an elevated position, giving you a full view of the landing area. However, that’s not to say that there aren’t any semi-blind approaches or uphill fairways – there are a few! Holes 11 and 13 are especially satisfying, and the par 3 12th hole is the signature hole of the course. It plays across the dried-up bed of River Nuno to a raised green, featuring two small bunkers at the back of the putting surface. 

The Valle del Este Golf Resort is set across 108 acres of Almeria’s desert land with excellent facilities and is situated within reach of the stunning mountain villages. La Envia Golf Course is a desert oasis, featuring cactus, palm trees and indigenous shrubs planted along the edge of each hole. It’s truly spectacular! The 18-hole, par 70 course is sure to test the abilities of all players, offering some particularly tricky holes towards the end. 

Players are eased into the course with the first nine holes, with the 2nd and 5th hole preparing players for a tighter game that is required in the second half. Watch out for the 12th, 13th and 14th holes, which are sure to challenge even the more advanced player.
